SafeNet, Spezialist für Informationssicherheit, gibt bekannt, dass seine Sicherheits-Halbleiter-Produkte SafeXcel für die Hersteller von Netzwerkkomponenten die EU-Richtlinie Restriction on Hazardous Substances (RoHS) 2002/95/EG erfüllen und keine gefährlichen Materialien wie Blei oder Quecksilber enthalten. Seit dem 1. Juli 2006 müssen die Anbieter von elektronischen Geräten die Vorgaben der RoHS-Richtlinie erfüllen, um innerhalb der Europäischen Union ihre Produkte produzieren und verkaufen zu können.

Die RoHS-Direktive verbietet den Verkauf von neuen elektronischen Geräten in der EU, die mehr als die definierte Menge an gefährlichen Materialien wie Blei, Cadmium, Quecksilber, sechswertiges Chrom, polybromierte Biphenyle (PBB) und polybromierte Diphenylether (PBDE) beinhalten.
