W3C Holds Web Services Seminar

W3C Member Companies, Technical Staff Demonstrate Real World Web Services Solutions in Paris

(PresseBox) (Sankt Augustin, )
W3C invites the public to a Web Services Seminar entitled "Using Web services: from infrastructure to semantics" on 6 March 2006 at the Palais Brongniart in Paris, France.

Focusing on semantic enhancements to Web services applications, this free event provides concrete examples of business challenges and how they have been resolved through the use of Web Services. W3C Member organizations including Amadeus, Canon, France Telecom, and Nokia, are to demonstrate solutions already implemented in enterprise environments.

Web Services Are Changing the Way IT Problems Are Approached and Resolved

Web services provide a standard means for software applications running on a variety of platforms and frameworks to interoperate. W3C's Web Services Activity is designing the infrastructure, defining the architecture and creating the core technologies for Web services:

* A messaging framework with SOAP 1.2, WS-Addressing 1.0 and SOAP Message Transmission Optimization (MTOM )
* Description of services through Web Services Description Language 2.0 and Web Services Choreography Description Language
* Addressing larger architectural topics and issues

W3C tested and standardized the essential components of the Web services model, ensuring a stable foundation for applications development. Now as industry desires more elaborate description capabilities, new work at W3C uses semantics on top of these core technologies.

Use Cases and Applications Experience Serve as Starting Point for Integrating Semantics

The Web Services and Semantics Seminar demonstrates uses of Web services in real world scenarios and promises a look at the use of semantics. Presentations on Web services applications are currently planned from industry leaders, developers and customers, and from W3C technical staff. The event is free to all, including members of the press, but requires registration. For your convenience, an online registration form is available and is linked from the Seminar home page.
