TENTE features in popular TV show – a look behind the scenes

Production and innovation presented on television

(PresseBox) (Wermelskirchen, )
In the latest edition of the long-standing German TV programme “Die Sendung mit der Maus” (The Show with the Mouse), public broadcaster Westdeutscher Rundfunk (WDR) showcased the production and application of castors and wheels from the family-owned company TENTE.

Experiencing production up close

A WDR camera team spent three days at TENTE’s site in Wermelskirchen, Germany, gaining exclusive insights into wheel and castor manufacturing. Filming covered sheet metal processing, turning, plastics production and assembly. The spotlight was on the production of Integral castors for hospital beds and the intelligent Integral assist, which forms part of the innovative WeAssist system from TENTE and LINAK.

The filming continued in a hospital in Bochum, where the team accompanied two patient transports – one with a bed using conventional Integral castors, and one with the WeAssist system.

15 minutes of airtime for TENTE

The outcome: almost 15 minutes of the programme were dedicated to TENTE – from production and technological innovation to real-life applications in healthcare. This exposure brought the company’s mobility solutions to a wide audience across the German-speaking region.

Knowledge transfer with cult status

For more than 50 years, “Sendung mit der Maus” has been one of the most well-known educational formats in the German-speaking region. Originally designed for children, it now also attracts a large adult audience. Millions of viewers appreciate its clear and engaging explanations of technical processes and everyday phenomena.

The full TENTE episode of “Sendung mit der Maus” will be available online in the ARD Mediathek streaming portal until 18 October 2025.
