Anstie Back From Injury At Belgian MX2 GP

(PresseBox) (Bensheim, )
Momentum for Rockstar Energy Suzuki Europe continues this week with the Grand Prix of Belgium occurring at the Sans Souci circuit in the historic town of Bastogne.

The 15th round of 17 in the FIM Motocross World Championship also sees the sixth round of eight in the European EMX125 contests as the international calendar winds down to a conclusion in the north of the continent with trips to the UK and Holland remaining.

After their turn at the Czech Grand Prix - where Jeremy Seewer again graced the EMX250 podium with the RM-Z250 - and the run-out at the FIM Junior World Championship with Jorge Zaragoza, Brian Hsu and Gianluca Facchetti in action, Max Anstie, Seewer and Hsu - as ever supported by ADAC Stiftung Sport - will take their shift in Bastogne.

Anstie's promising speed at the Lausitzring for round 13 three weeks ago was blunted with the early first moto crash - of which he was blameless - that curtailed the Brit's participation in the Czech Republic. Anstie needed a hospital visit to have a deep and bloody wound cleaned and was unable to wheel-out the factory-backed RM-Z250. After recovering, he is ready to go again at Sans Souci.

Said Anstie: "It's a pretty cool track. I hope they let it get really rutty and that it doesn't rain. I have just been recovering these days after my crashes, in Germany and Czech. I'll be on the gas this weekend, like usual, and I just hope I can make the best of the first few turns to put myself in a good position to fight with the good guys."

Anstie will again be backed-up by Seewer in the MX2 class who will face his final two meetings in the EMX2 championship in Britain and then the Netherlands; and with just a 17 point deficit to leader Valentin Guillod in the standings. Hsu will be looking to best his personal-best classification of ninth so far in his maiden 125cc two-stroke campaign on the RM125.

San Souci entertains Grand Prix for the second time after a damp and hurried inauguration last June. A host of improvements to the largely flat and grassy site include a hard-standing paddock, a more viewable start straight; and more options for the spectators expecting to attend and hoping for a partisan success in MX1 with Suzuki's Clement Desalle.

The weather forecast for the weekend predicts sunny and bright conditions with temperatures around 20 degrees and only a slight chance of a shower or two on Sunday.

MX2 World Championship Standings (after 14 of 17 rounds): 1. Jeffrey Herlings (NED, KTM), 692 points; 2. Jordi Tixier (FRA, KTM), 515 p.; 3. Jose Butron (ESP, KTM), 436 p.; 4. Christophe Charlier (FRA, Yamaha), 405 p.; 5. Glenn Coldenhoff (NED, KTM), 377 p.; 6. Dean Ferris (AUS, Yamaha), 359 p.; 7. Jake Nicholls (GBR, KTM), 345 p.; 8. Alessandro Lupino (ITA, Kawasaki), 294 p.; 9. Max Anstie (GBR, Rockstar Energy Suzuki Europe), 282 p.; 10. Petar Petrov (BUL, Yamaha), 262 p.
