Extensive hospital renovation in Prague

23 GEDA units used for extensive renovation work at the hospital in Motol, Prague

(PresseBox) (Asbach-Bäumenheim, )
A total of 23 GEDA transport platforms from Asbach-Bäumenheim in Bavaria have helped carry out the extensive renovation work at Prague’s Motol hospital over the last year and a half. 15 GEDA 1500 Z/ZP, five GEDA 500 Z/ZP and three GEDA 300 Z units were used.

Prague’s Motol district is home to one of Europe’s largest hospitals and the largest children’s hospital in the entire country. It provides medical care for children and adults that includes high specialisation. The newly renovated building is designed in the shape of a cross, has four wings and has a helipad so that patients can be quickly transported to the emergency department. The paediatric department in the C wing alone has ten floors of bedrooms, one floor for medical rooms and three technical floors. The university hospital is used as a teaching facility by the first to third medical faculties of Charles University.

Triple power at the hospital
Numerous scaffolders, façade builders, roofers and internal construction workers were needed for the extensive and time-consuming renovation work at the Prague hospital. 23 hard-working GEDA helpers have also supported the workers over the last year and a half. The various construction workers used the GEDA 1500 Z/ZP and GEDA 500 Z/ZP transport platforms for their day-to-day work. The range of GEDA 1500 Z/ZP platform versions ensured that their use on the construction site was as effective as possible. Both the B and the BS platforms are the same size at 1.45 m x 3.3 m, but they can transport materials of different weights. The B platform can carry 1500 kg, whereas the BS platform has a capacity of 2000 kg. The different platform structures enable quick and easy loading and unloading of the façade panels or the insulation of the hospital. The workers can also be transported safely to their place of work. The GEDA 1500 Z/ZP transport platform has a total of 14 platform variants to choose from. The great advantage is that many platforms can be individually adapted to the construction site with a conversion kit and offer more flexibility. The GEDA 1500 Z/ZP transport platform is designed for heights of up to 100 m and masters these with ease.

As well as the GEDA 1500 Z/ZP transport platforms, another transport platform was also employed – the GEDA 500 Z/ZP. With a load capacity of 500 kg / 850 kg or 5 people, the smaller GEDA 1500 Z/ZP transport platform is no less impressive. The GEDA 500 Z/ZP can transport construction materials or workers to a height of up to 100 m with a lifting speed of 12 m/min for people and 24 m/min for materials. It was used primarily to move the materials for the renovation work. At the hospital, the GEDA 500 Z/ZP was also installed at a lifting height of 40 m.

To reduce the load, the GEDA 300 Z was used for roof work. Despite being lighter, the GEDA 300 Z can transport loads of up to 300 kg to a lifting height of 100 m. With a lifting speed of 30 m/min, the material lift is a quick and reliable helper. Like the transport platforms, the three GEDA 300 Z material lifts were installed at the Prague hospital at a lifting height of 40 m to transport various construction materials. The Eco safety gates ensure the required level of safety at the construction site and make it easy to load and unload the materials and equipment. The platform can be swivelled by 90° on one side, allowing workers to access hard-to-reach areas.

It is precisely this flexibility and labour-saving function that our customers most appreciate about the GEDA platforms. This is also true of the rental company Boels CZ, which invested heavily this year and used our GEDA lifts for the Prague hospital renovation. We are excited to see which projects we can work on next together with Boels CZ.
