The new GEDA IoT Box Premium

GEDA in conversation with Zeppelin Rental GmbH

(PresseBox) (Asbach-Bäumenheim, )
GEDA GmbH, a medium-sized manufacturer of construction and industrial hoists based in Asbach-Bäumenheim, Bavaria, deliberately enlisted the help of a long-standing partner—Zeppelin Rental GmbH—for the development of the new GEDA IoT-Box Premium. The goal was to develop a solution in close collaboration with end users that optimally meets the demands of the construction site.

Thanks to this close collaboration, Zeppelin Rental was able to directly incorporate its practical experience into the development process, thereby actively shaping the features of the new GEDA IoT-Box. The previous GEDA IoT-Box Standard already made GEDA transport platforms “smart.” With the new Premium version, GEDA is now taking it a step further: Make your hoist smartER!

At a construction site in Frankfurt, where GEDA transport platforms are already being tested in use with the GEDA IoT Box Premium, we had the opportunity to speak with Matthias Trinkaus (Head of Work Platforms, Hoists, and Forklifts in the Rhine, Main and Saar region, Zeppelin Rental GmbH). He played a key role in this development project.

Practical Development Through Close Partnership
“We’ve had a very close working relationship with GEDA in the past,” explains Matthias Trinkaus. “At the same time, we’ve been receiving an increasing number of inquiries from the market regarding access systems. However, some of the solutions previously available from other providers were reaching their limits.” Against this backdrop, it made sense for Zeppelin Rental to work with GEDA on a new solution that meets the demands of modern construction sites.

Increased efficiency for rental companies and construction sites
For Zeppelin Rental, the GEDA IoT-Box Premium offers one key advantage above all: reduced downtime. Features such as remote diagnostics allow potential issues to be detected early and often analyzed directly from a distance.

“As a result, we need significantly fewer on-site service calls,” says Trinkaus. “At the same time, we ensure that material transport on the construction site runs smoothly—a key factor for construction progress.” The GEDA IoT-Box thus serves as an all-in-one solution that both increases efficiency and boosts customer satisfaction.

Greater transparency and control for construction site operators
The digital solution also offers clear benefits for end customers. Users can keep track of their rented hoist at all times, conveniently from their desks.

Changes to the access system or access permissions can be managed remotely in the future. This simplifies organization and improves the flow of materials, particularly on construction sites with multiple trades. “Our customers can track at any time which trade used the hoist and how much it is being utilized,” explains Trinkaus.

Rapid Implementation of Practical Experience
The close collaboration was particularly evident during the test phase. Feedback from real-world construction site operations could be directly incorporated into further development. “Suggested changes were implemented very quickly. Even when we identified on-site that adjustments would be beneficial, they were implemented in no time,” reports Trinkaus.

Digital Solution for Modern Construction Sites
With the GEDA IoT-Box Premium, GEDA is expanding its portfolio with a smart digital solution that makes aerial work platforms even more efficient and transparent.

The result of a collaborative development with Zeppelin Rental: a technology that meets the demands of modern construction sites and offers real added value to both rental companies and users.
