27 new stops speed up construction work on the Perlachturm tower in Augsburg

The GEDA 1500 Z/ZP supports renovation work on Augsburg's landmark

(PresseBox) (Asbach-Bäumenheim, )
One of the city's most famous landmarks, the Perlachturm tower, stands in the heart of Augsburg, directly on town hall square. Originally built as a watchtower in the 10th century and rebuilt several times over the centuries, the approximately 70-metre-high tower is now a symbol of Augsburg's history and a proud part of the historic city ensemble surrounding the town hall.

To ensure that this imposing building continues to shine in all its glory, extensive renovation work is currently being carried out. As part of the work, the tower's copper dome, weighing around ten tonnes, has been completely removed and temporarily stored in front of the town hall. The internal reinforced concrete staircase is also being gradually removed to make way for a new, modern staircase.

In this complex construction project, all trades involved use a common vertical transport system: the GEDA 1500 Z/ZP transport platform. With a total of 27 stops and a height of 70 metres, the system is perfectly tailored to the requirements of the Perlachturm renovation.

This versatile device combines two functions in one system: it can be used both as a material hoist and as a transport platform for people and materials. The transport platform control system with a lifting speed of 12 m/min is used for transporting people. If only building materials are being transported, the system can be switched to material hoist mode with a speed of 24 m/min. For maximum efficiency on the construction site.

A device with numerous possibilities: thanks to 14 different platform variants with load capacities and dimensions, the GEDA 1500 Z/ZP adapts perfectly to a wide variety of construction site requirements. The spacious load platforms offer sufficient space – even for heavy and bulky materials, such as those regularly used in the renovation of a historic tower. Platform variant A is being used on this construction site. The proven two-mast system with the innovative GEDA UNIX mast ensures stable and smooth handling despite its high load capacity of up to 2,000 kg. This is a crucial factor when working at lofty heights.

Once again, it is clear that GEDA solutions ‘Made in Germany’ are used wherever efficiency, safety and quality are required.
