New Partnership for Automated CLIA Instrumentation

High quality and cost effective solutions for chemiluminescence immunoassay

(PresseBox) (Bad Wildbad, )
BERTHOLD TECHNOLOGIES GmbH & Co KG and Radim SpA have entered into a partnership to realise high quality and cost effective solutions for automated CLIA. The proven qualities of the ELISA automated systems of Radim combined with the world renowned expertise in luminescence measurement of BERTHOLD TECHNOLOGIES result in the ideal system for automated CLIA. Assays running on the stand alone CentroLIA and CentroLIApc instruments are compatible with the auto-mated systems allowing for a seamless upgrade route when the laboratory assay throughput in-creases.

The CentroLIApc – a microplate luminometer dedicated for use in clinical diagnostics – is the con-tribution of Berthold Technologies to the joint project and represents the CLIA detection unit. Based on the experience of having built thousands of luminometers to be used in research and diagnostics over the last 25 years, BERTHOLD TECHNOLOGIES has developed this microplate luminometer comprising state-of-the-art technology with ease of use.

Radim will contribute with the BRIO system – a well established equipment to prepare samples for immunoenzymatic assays, with dispensing washing and incubation functions for up to 4 independent microplates with 96 wells each.

Both instruments will be operated and integrated under one software guaranteeing convenience, security and ease-of-use of operation. The system is called the BRIOLIA.

Outstanding features of the new automated systems are
Up to 120 samples
Incubation 25 – 45 °C
Dilution unit with 2 precision syringes
Multi-dispensing system with capacitive fluid detector
Original double washing system
Single photon counting for highest sensitivity
Patented crosstalk reduction
Dynamic range over 6 orders of magnitude
Open software for any microplate immunoassay

In the near future Berthold Technologies and Radim will be offering fully integrated LIA automation platforms.

The BRIOLIA and CentroLIApc will be shown on Berthold Technologies stand F43 in hall 3 of MEDICA exhibition taking place in Düsseldorf Nov 19th-22nd 2008.
