Ismaning, 9. Juli 2003 – Die Anforderungen bei Industrieanwendungen adressiert Wind River mit der PLATFORM ID (Industrial Devices). Mit diesem maßgeschneiderten Paket können Entwickler innerhalb kurzer Zeit Geräte für industrielle Anwendungen erstellen. Ab sofort unterstützt Wind River mit der PLATFORM ID auch Motorola/IBMs PowerPC 5xx Prozessoren. Damit reagiert Wind River auf Anforderungen speziell bei kostensensitiven Projekten. Die PLATFORM ID ist bereits für Intel, Hitachi SH und andere PowerPC Architekturen verfügbar. Zusätzlich zur Unterstützung der neuen Prozessorfamilie bietet das Paket auch BSP Support für die nachfolgenden Boards: Motorola MPC566EVB, Wind River SBC555, Axiom CMD565 und Kanis MPC555OAK_EMUF.
