Strong communities: Ifra presents successful cross-media projects – publishing houses from 8 countries registered already

(PresseBox) (Darmstadt, ) Newspaper houses have up to 30th June this year to register their cross-media special projects for the Ifra XMA Cross Media Awards 2007 ( The focus this time is on projects aimed at creating “communities”.

Today, media are used not only for information, but also communication and interaction. Readers, or users respectively, create content themselves, exchange views with like-minded persons and thus contribute actively to media development.

Michael Heipel, Ifra XMA Project Manager: “Newspaper publishing houses that succeed in actively integrating and motivating their readers have a clear advantage: reader loyalty increases, new reader audiences are reached, thus providing attractive platforms for advertisers. It is amazing what potential there is in dedicated or target audience communities, such as young people, women, students, sports fans, to name but a few. An important factor here is the close connection between print and digital products such as online and mobile.

With the XMA Cross Media Awards 2007, Ifra shows which projects are successful, how they are realised conceptually and technically, and what media houses can learn from them for their own initiatives. The special attraction of Ifra XMA is the possibility to benchmark with publishing houses worldwide and benefit from their experiences – in the last year, publishing houses from a total of 29 countries registered.”
