trans-o-flex group focuses industry expertise on new pharmaceutical competence centre
Specialist for pharmaceutical logistics wants to expand knowledge lead, develop and implement new solutions - In combination with new sales structure provides more efficiency and one-face-to-pharmacy
It is aspired to offer, beside the combination of Schnell-Lieferdienst and active temperature control through ThermoMed, a combinational offer of Schnell-Lieferdienst and Logistik-Service, for the import and export of pharmaceutical shipments for example. Specifically for this, new locations for contract logistics were and will be built. The active logistics centre in Hamburg pools inbound and outbound sea freight since May this year. In the Lower Franconian town of Alzenau, 30 minutes from Frankfurt airport, the ground-breaking ceremony for a new pharmacy competence centre with specialisation on transhipment and value added services for in- and outbound air freight has taken place in July. The initial operation is planned for January 2013. “The differentiation to other suppliers is that we not only develop the concepts but also take on the handling within Europe with coherent quality standards and a single contact for customers.”
Reinforcement comes from Doc Morris, external specialists and customers
Our employees within the competence centre will be supported by external specialists, who are consultants for specialist subjects such as the Europe-wide regulations for pharmaceutical transports (EU-GDP). Furthermore, it is discussed to found a customer advisory council, in order to integrate customer requirements to product development at an earlier stage.
The new manager of the pharmaceutical competence centre, Markus O’Sullivan (45), has worked for the past six years for the Dutch mail order pharmacy Doc Morris as director of business development. Before, he worked for seven years in various positions in the pharmaceutical companies Merckle and Ratiopharm. The business graduate, who was born in Bonn, completed after his studies in business administration in Saarbrücken and Lyon, a one year postgraduate degree in Hamburg, Gent and Oxford with a masters degree in Law and Economics. Apart from German, he speaks English, French, Spanish and Dutch.
Parallel to founding the pharmacy competence centre, the trans-o-flex group has united and restructured the so far independent sales forces of Schnell-Lieferdienst and ThermoMed to a single organisation. In future Customers from the pharmaceutical and healthcare industry that have been attended to by a specialist from each business segment will have one single contact for all services. “With the approach one-face-to-pharmacy, we will increase our efficiency and can invest newly available capacities in intensifying existing business relations and the acquisitions of new businesses” says Schmuck.
