Klimawandel: 81 Prozent weniger Wasserinsekten

Hochauflösende Langzeitstudie zeigt deutliche Veränderungen in Bächen

Senckenberg-Wissenschaftler Peter Haase hat gemeinsam mit seinem Kollegen Viktor Baranov von der Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München und weiteren Forschenden die Veränderung der Insektenwelt eines deutschen Fließgewässers untersucht. Über 42 Jahre wurde der in einem hessischen Naturschutzgebiet liegende Breitenbach mindestens wöchentlich beprobt. Die Daten zeigen, dass die Anzahl der Wasserinsekten um 81,6 Prozent gesunken ist, deren Artenvielfalt dagegen leicht anstieg. Das Wissenschaftler*innen-Team führt die Entwicklung in der heute im Fachjournal „Conservation Biology“ erschienenen Studie auf den globalen Klimawandel zurück.
