500 MAN trucks for Veolia Propreté

MAN Nutzfahrzeuge and Veolia Propreté, a well-known provider in waste disposal management, expand cooperation

München, (PresseBox) - Commercial vehicle manufacturer MAN and worldwide operating Veolia have signed a framework agreement for the delivery of more than 500 trucks. This reinforces a business relationship that has existed since 2004. "The agreement is a milestone in our partnership with Veolia", says Josef Sindl of Business Center Key Accounts at MAN Nutzfahrzeuge.

The vehicles from the TGL, TGM and TGS model ranges are to be delivered in 2009, and are primarily intended for Belgium, Germany, France, Britain and Poland. The major choice in the MAN range was the TGS series, which will be fitted with bodywork as set-down and roll-off skip loaders for waste disposal. A large number of MAN vehicles bearing the Veolia logo can be seen with bodywork for piping and sewerage maintenance, street cleaning and domestic refuse collection.

Safety and cost-effectiveness

The decision went to MAN as a preferred supplier because of the economies and user-friendly handling offered by the vehicles. "The MAN vehicles comply with the exhaust standards Euro 4 and -- upcoming -- Euro 5 with an engine technology that dispenses with any additives. That simplifies use of these vehicles enormously", explains Jérôme Lecardonnel, purchasing director of Veolia Propreté. The automated MAN TipMatic gearbox, simple as it is to operate, scores well with the drivers: "Safe and economical", summarizes Patrice Germe, trucks purchasing manager of Veolia Propreté. Waste management vehicles will primarily be on the road in residential areas with dense traffic, so drivers can concentrate on the traffic and are not distracted by gear shifting.
