2.511 Lehrverträge im Handwerk sind bis zum 31. Juli in der Lehrlingsrolle der Handwerkskammer Koblenz eingetragen. Das sind drei Prozent mehr als zum gleichen Zeitpunkt des letzten Jahres. Für Schulabgänger im nördlichen Rheinland-Pfalz gibt es derzeit noch 164 freie Lehrstellen, so die Bilanz der aktuellen HwK-Lehrstellenbörse. Neben offenen Ausbildungsplätzen im Kfz-Handwerk warten auch verschiedene Nahrungsmittelbetriebe und das Bauhandwerk auf ihren Lehrling 2008. Das Verhältnis zwischen angebotenen Lehrstellen und Bewerbern beginnt sich zu verschieben. Infolge der demographischen Entwicklung werden die Unternehmen wieder Nachwuchsprobleme haben.
