Jan Klett erhält Arfvedson-Schlenk-Preis

Am 12. September wird Dr. Jan Klett, Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz, im Rahmen des Wissenschaftsforums Chemie 2017 (WiFo) in Berlin mit dem Arfvedson-Schlenk-Preis ausgezeichnet. Der von dem Unternehmen Albemarle gestiftete Preis wird gemeinsam mit der Gesellschaft Deutscher Chemiker (GDCh) verliehen. Der Preisträger Klett erhält die Auszeichnung für seine herausragenden Arbeiten auf dem Gebiet der Lithiumchemie.

Die GDCh und Albemarle würdigen damit insbesondere Kletts bemerkenswerte Beiträge zur organometallischen Chemie der Alkalimetalle. Mit diesen Erkenntnissen werden bedeutende Lücken im Verständnis von sogenannten Lochmann-Schlosser-Superbasen geschlossen. Seine Darstellung dieser löslichen und damit gut charakterisierbaren Alkalimetallverbindungen ist eine der bedeutendsten Entwicklungen in der Hauptgruppen-Organometallchemie der letzten
Iszks.
