Regenerative Energieerzeugung und Elektromobilität sind zentrale Themen auf dem Weg zu einer ressourcenschonenden, klimaschützenden und gleichzeitig wettbewerbsfähigen Volkswirtschaft. Hocheffiziente Leistungswandler auf der Basis des neuen Halbleitermaterials Galliumnitrid (GaN) sind eine hierfür unverzichtbare neue Schlüsseltechnologie.

Staatliche Impulse

Im Rahmen des Förderprogramms "IKT2020" (Informationsund Kommunikationstechnologien) fördert das Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung (BMBF) mit seinem Programm "IKT2020" (Informations- und Kommunikationstechnologien) Forschungsvorhaben zum Thema "Leistungselektronik zur Energieeffizienz-Steigerung (LES)". Im Rahmen dieses Förderprogramms wurde ein Verbundprojekt mit der Bezeichnung "Power GaN Plus" unter Federführung des Fraunhofer-Instituts für Angewandte Festkörperphysik IAF in Freiburg mit einem Gesamtvolumen von knapp 2,8 Millionen Euro für einen Zeitraum tfc jdqk Qimadp vegmxrqkn.
