Bundesverband Alternative Investments e.V.(BAI), the German lobby association for the alternative investment industry (i.a. hedge funds and private equity), has started an initiative at its 2008 AGM held in Frankfurt on 19 May 2008 to discuss the introduction of hedge fund-standards in Germany.
BAI presented its members, who include suppliers of hedge funds and private equity as well as investors (e.g. life insurers)and industry consultants, with the standards developed by the London-based Hedge Fund Standards Board. The association stresses the point that equivalents for all relevant parts of these standards already exist under German investment laws.
