Die Bielersee Kraftwerke AG (BIK), die je zur Hälfte im Besitz der Stadt Biel und der BKW AG ist, hat Anfang Januar 2012 mit den Bauarbeiten für die provisorische Fussgänger- und Radfahrerbrücke beim Neubau des Wasserkraftwerk Hagneck begonnen. Die provisorische Wehrüberquerung wird an der Flussmündung direkt am Bielersee, unterhalb des neuen Wehres zu stehen kommen. Bis zum Bauende des Wasserkraftwerks Hagneck, im Jahr 2015 wird sie den bestehenden Übergang über das alte Wehr ersetzen und im Anschluss zurückgebaut werden.

Aufgrund der Erneuerung des Wasserkraftwerks Hagneck muss das alte Wehr abgebrochen werden.
