Der Bundesverband Deutscher Zeitungsverleger (BDZV) begrüßt ausdrücklich den Vorschlag der österreichischen EU-Ratspräsidentschaft, große Internetkonzerne wie Google, Amazon und Facebook zur Öffnung ihrer Datenpools zu bewegen. BDZV-Präsident Dr. Mathias Döpfner, zugleich Vorstandsvorsitzender der Axel Springer SE, erklärte, dass Zeitungen und andere Unternehmen in Deutschland und Europa mit den anonymisierten Nutzungsdaten der Tech-Riesen ihr Werbe- und Nutzergeschäft künftig auf eigene Rechnung führen könnten. „Obendrein können wir den Datenschatz nutzen, um daraus Erkenntnisse für neue eigene Produkte zu gewinnen“, sagte Döpfner und verwies in diesem Zusammenhang auf das Kartellverfahren gegen Bell System von 1956. „Das Unternehmen wurde damals gezwungen, seine Patente an Wettbewerber
