Anwendungsfreundlichkeit, Umfang und Berücksichtigung der bei der Geräteentwicklung auftretenden Probleme machen Qualität von Wind River Workbench aus Die Eclipse Foundation hat auf der EclipseCon 2008 die Entwicklungsumgebung Wind River Workbench als "Bestes kommerzielles Entwicklungstool auf Eclipse-Basis" ausgezeichnet. Ausschlaggebend für die Entscheidung der aus Mitgliedern der Eclipse Community bestehenden Jury, Wind River Workbench als einen der drei Finalisten aus mehr als 55 teilnehmenden Lösungen zu platzieren, waren die Anwendungsfreundlichkeit der Lösung, ihr Tool-Spektrum und ihre Bezugnahme auf die Problemfelder, mit denen die Entwickler von Geräte-Software im Arbeitsprozess konfrontiert sind.

Wind River Workbench stellt leistungsfähige Tools für die Entwicklung von Device Software zur Verfügung.Die Lösung enthält Zielumgebungen für VxWorks und Wind River Linux, Tools für das Management der Targets, Multi-Kontext- und Multiprocessor-Debugging und Echtzeit-Analyse-Tools. Für die Steuerung der Laufzeit-Konfiguration auf Wind River-Plattformen stellt die Lösung Tools für die Konfiguration von Kernel, Patches und File System zur Verfügung.Eclipse-Standards und -Funktionalitäten machen aus der Wind River Workbench eine moderne und flexible End-to-End-Entwicklungsumgebung.
