Weidmüller's feed-through device terminals VWGK: Suitable for potting, feed-through device terminals offer reliable and safe feed-through of electrical potentials in encapsulated housings

(PresseBox) (Detmold, )
Weidmüller is expanding its WGK range of feed-through terminals with the introduction of the suitable-for-potting feed-through device terminals VWGK 4 and VWGK 6. VWGK device terminals are available for the cross-section range 4 and 6 mm². The external customer-side connection is created utilising the proven clamping yoke connection; a solder hook is provided on the inside for solder termination. Weidmüller's clamping yoke connection system guarantees maintenance-free and vibration-proof connections. All VWGK variants are available in the colours grey or green/yellow, the latter without equipment grounding function. Made from the special thermoplastic WEMID the insulated enclosure is designed to be finger-touch safe. And they can be marked using standard Weidmüller marking products. VWGK terminals will primarily be utilised in applications providing device manufacturers with connection solutions for EMC filters, power supplies or coil assemblies. The feed-through device terminals are suitable for potting and eminently suitable for use in double insulated transformers and encapsulated filter modules.

Weidmüller's new, suitable-for-potting feed-through device terminals VWGK 4 and VWGK 6 feed electrical potentials through encapsulated housings reliably and safely. The VWGK device terminals are designed to terminate conductor sizes 0.5-6mm² and 0.5-10mm². The lateral dovetail interlocking system means creating a block of terminals poses no problems. VWGK are available in grey or green/yellow - the green/yellow versions do not have an equipment grounding function. All variants have a simple, uniform 10-mm pitch hole pattern. The user-friendly connection on the customer-side is made utilising the proven clamping yoke connection; a solder hook is provided on the inside for solder termination. The terminal is fixed to the inside of the housing by means of a plastic knurled nut. VWGK terminals are insulated and prevent any leakage of the compound material. For the terminal housings Weidmüller uses the insulating material WEMID. This is a special thermoplastic from Weidmüller with an enhanced continuous operating temperature of +120 °C in comparison with polyamide PA 66 (PA 66: 100 °C). At the same time it exhibits improved fire resistance qualities - flammability class V0 (PA 66: V2) in accordance with UL 94.

Weidmüller's proven clamping yoke system works on the principle of 'steel for strength and copper for current'. Made of zinc plated, additionally chromate coated and case-hardened steel the clamping yoke and the high-tensile clamping screw fix the conductor firmly in place in the termination point. The unceasing high-contact force applied to the conductor ensures a gas-tight, vibration- and jolt-proof connection. The connection is maintenance-free, which means there will be no need to re-tighten the screw in future.

VWGK terminals are the first choice for device manufacturers requiring connection solutions for EMC filters, power supplies and coil assemblies. The feed-through device terminals are eminently suitable for use in double insulated transformers and encapsulated filter modules. VWGK device terminals (500 V/41 A) can be deployed in ambient temperatures ranging from -40 to +75 °C, plus 45 °C self-heating when under current load.

A large selection of standard Weidmüller markers - for example DEK 5, 6 and 8 - is available for guaranteed clarity when marking electrical equipment.

All VWGK feed-through device terminals are predestined for use in applications across the globe as documented by approvals in accordance with IEC 60947-7-1, UL 1059 and CSA.
