Right in time for the SPS/IPS/Drives 2008, VIPA GmbH for the first time presents an AS-I-Master - the VIPA CP 343-2P ASI.
The VIPA CP 343-2P ASI Master has been certified in accordance to the extended AS-I specification 2.11 and supports the AS-I Master profile M3. The communication processor enables the direct access to A-addresses via 16 Byte periphery. Furthermore, a data base based access to B-addresses and analog slaves according to profile 7.3/7.4 is as well possible.
Another feature that the AS-I Master offers is a diagnostic alarm. In addition to that it can be updated and is compatible to Siemens CP342-2.
The AS-Interface stands out due to its wide spreading, high flexiblity, economic efficiency and its simple installation. Especially the installing time has been decreased considerably.
The AS-I sensors and AS-I actors are being connected directly to the AS-I master via a two-core cable that transfers the data and also supplies the connected communication electronics with power. The power supply is being carried out via a central power supply unit within the bus system.
Thanks to its cable-penetration technology, the master can easily be integrated and connect to the existing system. The insulation of special AS-Interface flexible flat cables simply needs to be pierced by two piercing needles when being mounted. Thus, slave can easily be relocated and activated at any time without a great deal of effort.
Especially due to the simple installation, this solution provides a high reduction of costs compared to parallel wiring.
