Smart automation with LAPP

Stuttgart-based global market leader at the SPS

(PresseBox) (Stuttgart, )
After a three-year break because of the pandemic, LAPP will be back at the SPS trade fair in Nuremberg from 8th to 10th of November. In Hall 2, Stand 310, the global market leader for integrated solutions in the field of cable and connection technology will be showcasing numerous smart automation innovations and new digital services.

“The SPS is one of Europe's most important meeting points for the automation industry. This is why we will be present this year with a new, bigger stand,” says Karl Heckl, CSO LA EMEA at U.I. Lapp GmbH, emphasising the importance of the trade fair for the connection specialist. LAPP will be showcasing its full range of services at the event. From innovative solutions for industrial communication and complete ÖLFLEX® CONNECT system solutions for stationary systems, servo assemblies or cable chains, digital ordering and logistics services and made-to-measure connection solutions for large projects to the futureLab, where the company will be taking a look into the future for its customers and interested parties. “Of course, we will also be bringing exciting new products to the trade fair,” adds Heckl.

Innovative robotic cable with Fast Connect connection

The new ETHERLINE® ROBOT PN FC Cat.5e with Fast Connect setup from LAPP is a highly flexible industrial Ethernet cable which has been specially designed for robotics applications. This is because Ethernet cables have to withstand a lot when they are used in industrial robots. Seamless data communication of the feedback loops between the sensors and the robot arm, the robot control and their connection to the control systems must also be guaranteed in the case of horizontal linear movements combined with torsion. LAPP has developed the highly flexible Cat.5e Ethernet cable for continuous flexing use under torsional load for this purpose. It is suitable for PROFINET applications in accordance with type R. The new variant with the Fast Connect (FC) connection is even easier to assembly and install thanks to a tweak in the design. This fast assembly capability is an important criterion for users.

Save space with SKINTOP® multi-cable entry systems

The innovative SKINTOP® multi-cable entry systems from LAPP support the trend towards digitalisation and miniaturisation. An increasing number of cables with a small diameter need to be inserted in very tight spaces. LAPP has developed round and rectangular SKINTOP® MULTI multi-cable entry systems for this purpose. Depending on the size, up to 30 non-assembled cables and wires and also media hoses can be inserted into a housing with minimum space requirements. The innovation is based on a new type of gel membrane system. The cables are simply pushed through the elastic gel insert and are held securely in place by the static friction on the cable insulation. Foreign bodies such as water cannot penetrate. The patented hopper stage geometry of the individual entry points also allows the maximum clamping ranges to be increased with up to 4 mm of variance per cable diameter. Another advantage is the compact design of the SKINTOP® MULTI. This allows the cables to be arranged in a particularly space-saving manner.

All-digital trade fair visit

LAPP is also represented on the “SPS on air” digital platform, providing information about the latest connection topics before the trade fair begins. In exciting talks, the attendees will find out more about the innovative ETHERLINE® ROBOT PN FC robotic cable, how a company can protect itself against hackers, and the benefits of single pair Ethernet. While the face-to-face event is taking place, LAPP will also be launching a virtual version of its trade fair stand. In this way, customers and interested parties can also find out about LAPP’s innovations digitally when they are not at the trade fair. Virtual tours of the trade fair stand with the LAPP experts will also be available.
