TYPO3 Recognized as a Digital Public Good, Reflecting its Commitment to Open Source Values

(PresseBox) (Düsseldorf, Germany, )
The Digital Public Goods (DPG) registry has recognized TYPO3’s dedication to sustainable development goals including unrestricted access, innovation for the public good, and reliable governance in open source content management.

TYPO3 has been approved as a Digital Public Good (DPG) by the Digital Public Goods Alliance. The body, which governs the registry of organizations that adhere to the United Nations’ sustainable development goals, certified the open source content management system (CMS) in April. Inclusion in the registry stands as a recognition of TYPO3’s continued commitment to equitable innovation, unrestricted access to its products, and anti-discrimination.

Founded in 1998, TYPO3 is an open source CMS governed by a not-for-profit organization that oversees the product’s continued growth and development. The TYPO3 Association has been a longstanding advocate for democratic, community-driven innovation, digital sovereignty, and cross-organizational collaboration, serving as a member of the Open Website Alliance alongside Drupal, Joomla, and WordPress. TYPO3 is at the forefront of open source technology adoption in the Global South, promoting it as a source of local employment opportunities and non-exploitative means of digitization.

The certification reflects TYPO3’s continued drive to deliver cost-effective, efficient, and secure content management solutions worldwide, while fostering a sustainable, and community-led approach to product development and innovation. Inclusion in the DPG registry allows TYPO3 to expand its partnerships with government and private sector, supporting digital infrastructure efforts through civil society initiatives and communities of trained professionals whose vibrant ecosystems are the cornerstone of sustainable development.

TYPO3 Voices on Digital Public Good Status

Olivier Dobberkau, President, TYPO3 Association

“We’re excited to be listed in the Digital Public Goods registry. It’s a reflection of our values and of our vision for an open web, where transparency, digital sovereignty, and collaboration are the cornerstones of innovation.”

Daniel Homorodean, TYPO3 Community Expansion Committee Leader

“Being certified as a DPG is an important validation of the work that TYPO3 continues to do in promoting open source values worldwide. Our digital transformation projects in regions like East Africa showcase the power of sharing paired with TYPO3’s cohesive strategy and solid governance principles. The certification is a seal of trustworthiness, reliability, and integrity of the TYPO3 project that will promote it as a tool for the public good as we engage with global partners."
