The "Perfect Plant" initiative, SAP's efforts aimed at helping manufacturers combine global manufacturing coordination with local execution to improve end-to-end manufacturing operations and financial performance, has now been enhanced by quality and laboratory management. To achieve these conceptual enhancements, SAP Deutschland AG & Co. KG relies on the expertise of partner companies Trebing & Himstedt and Dr. Eilebrecht SSE in the fields of manufacturing integration and quality control.
This collaboration aims at making the process chain of production and laboratory management more efficient, by providing integrated solutions for various application scenarios. The respective elements, based on the SAP® Manufacturing Integration and Intelligence (SAP MII) application, enable integration of quality management functions of the SAP ERP application into production and laboratory systems. In this way, laboratories are integrated with the manufacturing process in the best possible way, and cycle times can be kept short. Availability of real-time information translates into quicker and more flexible responses to quality problems on the shop-floor. Automated data recording based on the connection of electronic master tools and consistent data management reduce manual effort and the involved risk of error. With the intuitive user interface, in-process controls used during production can now be carried out directly by the shop-floor staff.
The concept for a perfect laboratory contains solutions adapted to the special requirements of process industries, discrete manufacturing and mixed scenarios, covering tasks from goods receipt inspection via in-process control up to final inspection.
