Diverse Medien warnen jüngst vor den Risiken von Online-Adventskalendern - speziell für Kinder. Die Kalender locken die Kleinen mit attraktiven Preisen, detaillierte Daten über sich preiszugeben. Die Experten von MessageLabs Intelligence bei Symantec Hosted Services weisen in diesem Zusammenhang darauf hin, dass diese Gefahr nicht nur Kinder aufgrund mangelnder Erfahrung betrifft. Paul Wood, MessageLabs Intelligence Senior Analyst, Symantec Hosted Services, kommentiert: "Online-Adventskalender sind ausgesprochen beliebt. Nutzer sehen sie oftmals als harmlose Gewinnspiele, bei denen sie hübsche Präsente gewinnen können. Es ist jedoch wichtig, sich zu erkundigen, wohin persönliche Daten gelangen könnten. Vorsicht tut Not: Wer Online-Adventskalender liebt, sollte nur die Türchen von Angeboten seriösen Ursprungs öffnen. Andernfalls werden User möglicherweise Ziel eines Phishing-Angriffs oder geben ihr Mail-Postfach riskantem Spam preis. Und was die Gewinne angeht: Die Nutzer sollten daran denken, dass nichts umsonst ist."
