Demand for these metals is rising sharply. Supply chains must be secured and risks associated with extraction and procurement must be kept to a minimum. Nickel and cobalt are particularly important in batteries. These two metals provide greater energy density and a longer service life. Nickel increases capacity and reduces costs. Cobalt stands for stability and safety.

Lithium is essential in batteries for electric cars and battery storage systems. The nature of cars is changing; they are now connected to energy sources, infrastructure, and digital services. All of this goes beyond pure mobility. China is now the dominant refiner of 19 out of 20 energy-related strategic metals, especially critical metals. China's market share is around 70 percent. The materials used in electric cars, batteries, and power grids are also needed for defense systems and AI chips.

In the future, demand for energy services will increase, both in the private and industrial sectors and, of course, in the data-related sector. Electricity storage in the basement and photovoltaic systems on the roof of the house is no longer a rarity. In terms of energy sources, the photovoltaic sector is recording the highest growth rates. This also increases the need for storage options and, in turn, the demand for nickel and cobalt. In any case, it is positive that the important materials of the future do not come from China for once.

Canada Nickel Company - https://www.commodity-tv.com/ondemand/companies/profil/canada-nickel-company-inc/ - has nickel and cobalt in its Crawford project in Ontario. The exploration program is being pushed forward with vigor.

Aurania Resources - https://www.commodity-tv.com/ondemand/companies/profil/aurania-resources-ltd/ - was previously best known for its gold and copper project, The Lost Cities Cutucu Project in Ecuador. Now, management is also focusing on new projects in France (including gold and nickel) and Italy (nickel, cobalt, iron, copper, and chromium).
