Electromobility and battery exchange stations

(PresseBox) (Herisau, )
Electromobility is visibly gaining ground, and perhaps soon battery swap stations will too.

Charging an e-car takes a certain amount of time. In China, fully automatic battery changing is already a common procedure that could also become established in this country. The e-car driver drives into a kind of double garage, and everything else happens automatically with the help of a robot. The robot removes the empty battery, which is brought in for charging, and attaches a new, fully charged battery, while the car occupants can remain seated in the car. And the whole procedure takes only five to six minutes. In Shenzhen, Nio had set up its first battery changing station in 2018. The acceptance of the battery changing service increased tremendously until today.

30 million batteries have already been changed. Every day, there are around 60,000, which means that every 1.4 seconds a vehicle gets a new battery, an enormous success. By the end of 2023, Nio plans to operate 2,300 such battery exchange stations in China, compared with just under 2,000 today. Nio also wants to expand the battery exchange system in Germany, Scandinavian countries and the Netherlands - there are currently only two stations in Germany.

There is no question that electromobility is on course for success worldwide. The associated parameters, such as charging options, are part of this. This environmentally friendly development is possible because raw materials such as lithium are available to breathe life into the batteries. Lithium has become a raw material that is often desperately sought after. Those who want to bet on lithium can do so by investing in companies that own lithium. These include, for example, US Critical Metals or ION Energy.

US Critical Metals - https://www.commodity-tv.com/ondemand/companies/profil/us-critical-metals-corp/ - focuses on lithium, rare earths and cobalt. The projects are located in Nevada, Idaho and Montana.

ION Energy - https://www.commodity-tv.com/ondemand/companies/profil/ion-energy-ltd/ - is on the lithium front in mining-friendly Mongolia with two prospective lithium projects.
