Tin and potash - raw materials in danger of becoming scarce

(PresseBox) (Herisau, )
Demand for tin is expected to increase by 30 percent in the coming decade. Potash is also likely to be in demand.

Tin is necessary for electrical and electronic connections. This makes it an important raw material for the transformation in energy production and the technology sector. Demand for the raw material is increasing in these growing sectors. This is supporting prices. The USA, Canada and the United Kingdom have declared tin a critical metal. Around two thirds of the tin mined today comes from China, Indonesia and Myanmar. However, the global supply could become scarcer. Myanmar, the world's third largest tin producer, has banned mining activities. And Indonesia is considering a supply ban in order to promote the expansion of downstream processing capacities. Yet Indonesia is the largest exporter of the metal in its refined state. Tin is used for soldering and coating other metals and is used in the production of superconducting rare earth magnets.

Tin One Resources - https://www.commodity-tv.com/ondemand/companies/profil/tinone-resources-inc/ -, for example, has high-grade tin/tungsten and lithium projects in Tasmania and New South Wales, Australia, where tin is also available.

Potash is another raw material that is threatened by shortages. Compared to other fertilizers, this fertilizer is most affected by the supply disruptions from Russia and Belarus. Potassium is a key nutrient in plant nutrition and is indispensable in agriculture. The mineral intensifies photosynthesis and ultimately promotes plant growth.  Incidentally, plants can protect themselves from frosty temperatures with potassium, like an antifreeze. The three cereals wheat, rice and maize are among the cornerstones of the world's food supply. Countries at the forefront of agriculture, such as Brazil, consume huge amounts of potassium fertilizer.

Potash is also available in Africa. There in Gabon, Millennial Potash - https://www.commodity-tv.com/ondemand/companies/profil/millennial-potash-corp/ - is working on potash supplies. The mining-friendly country scores highly with its potash-rich regions.
