Jeremy Seewer steered his works Rockstar Energy Suzuki Europe RM-Z250 to a second moto result of third position at Talkessel, Teutschenthal for the Grand Prix of Germany and round 10 of 18 in the FIM Motocross World Championship. The Swiss assembled a scorecard of 12-3 and sixth overall in the MX2 class at a familiar hunting ground for the youngster.
Brian Hsu visited the EMX250 European Championship podium for the first time in his maiden season in the category with an excellent third place.
Talkessel split opinion through the weekend. The hard-pack offered traction but also areas of slick terrain that was hard to predict and judge. The volume of bumps and ruts was high and tricky to negotiate due to the presence of three European Championship support classes. The fast undulations were an acquired taste and the narrow course needed a positive start to ensure contention for podium positions.
Seewer grabbed a seventh position in Saturday's Qualification Heat and reasonable pick of slots in the start gate for the two 30-minute and two-lap motos on Sunday that were run in warmer conditions and without the threat of the light showers that appeared several times on the first day.
Seewer leapt off the line and into a great fourth place on the first lap but then crashed around the far side of the circuit, fell again shortly after and restarted in 27th position. The '#91' then had to work hard to come back through the pack and rode with impressive speed to arrive to 12th; a decent salvage operation but also frustrating because Seewer could have easily been in contention for a podium place.
He got it right in the second moto: A pass on Julien Lieber to snare third place allowed Seewer the space and freedom to reel off his laps and he sprinted to just his second top-three moto finish of the year. With 275 points from the 10 fixtures of the season so far, Seewer sits in sixth place in the MX2 table and is just 11 points from fifth.
Teutschenthal saw the EMX250 European Championship come back into play after a small hiatus. Brian Hsu was competing on a layout familiar from his outings in the ADAC MX Master national series and on Saturday pushed his RM-Z250 through the windy conditions to score ninth position. The German - who recently finished his studies - followed his top-10 finish with a fantastic holeshot on Sunday. He was unable to resist the power of then-series leader Adam Sterry on the second lap but the duo had already pulled away from the rest of the pack. Sterry then crashed and caught fencing in his rear wheel and Hsu completed a solid moto behind Steven Clarke to take second place and walk the rostrum with third overall. Team-mate Bas Vaessen struggled to find a similar pace and was 24th overall with two points from the second moto for 19th.
Hsu is the better-placed EMX250 runner in the championship picture with ninth position in just his first season on the potent four-stroke. A trip north and into Scandinavia will take MXGP to round 11 of 18 and the circuit of Uddevalla will entertain the Grand Prix of Sweden on July 4-5th where EMX250 will also be active.

"We had some small issues with the suspension on Saturday but today I felt really good again on the track. In the first moto I got a good start and passed Guillod on the first lap with a really nice line. I did it again a few times but on one occasion I was a bit too wide and hit some fencing near the track. It was bad luck because I was so close to going through. I then crashed again because Covington covered my line and I couldn't do anything. I made the best of it and finished 12th. I'm really not happy with that but I came back strong, I'm healthy and I was on a good level. The second moto was much better...so overall I'm not too happy with today but I know my speed is there and I can be consistent with it. My starts were also there."
Brian Hsu:
"My school is finished and I can work more! Instead of sitting in a class I can be riding and training. Anyway, today was great. The whole weekend actually. I had a problem in qualifying because a stone flew into my goggles and popped the lens. It cut my eyebrow and there was blood all over the goggles. My eye was very swollen and we did everything we could to treat it. In the first race it was really difficult to see. I was far back in the beginning because someone cut my line but I made some very good passes to finish ninth. I wasn't tired and happy with the race. Today, a holeshot! If I get a good start then I am definitely at the front for the race because we all have the same speed. I'm so happy for my first podium in the class. We will go to Sweden now and will see what will happen."
Bas Vaessen:
"Yesterday my qualifying time wasn't the best and I was riding very stiff. I had to push through the 'Last Chance' to make the gate. I had a pretty good start in the first moto but someone close to me crashed and his bike flew into my back. I was really far behind but fought my way up to twenty-something. My lap-times were good but I need to get more confident with my passing and this was the story with the second moto as well. We need to look forward more and find the holes where the guys are."
