Software AG today announced general availability of webMethods OneData for process-driven Master Data Management (MDM). webMethods OneData is a comprehensive, multi-domain MDM solution that provides business users with consistent data from differing data sources that can be used by virtually any system, service-oriented architecture (SOA) application or automated business process. Having a "single source of truth" for data allows organizations to optimize business processes and make faster, more precise decisions across the company.
Software AG acquired New Jersey-based Data Foundations Inc. and the OneData technology in October 2010, and the software is now available as a unified part of the webMethods platform. Combined with Software AG's BPM and SOA product suites, MDM will play a key role in all phases of the process excellence lifecycle.
"webMethods OneData reflects Software AG's commitment to deliver integrated solutions to our customers that provide high impact business value," said Dr. Wolfram Jost, Chief Technology Officer and member of the Executive Board, Software AG. "webMethods OneData provides process-driven MDM and proactive data governance that helps organizations fine-tune performance and improve their decision making by having access to reliable and consistent data."
webMethods OneData provides organizations a complete data governance and management platform for reconciling, cleansing, and synchronizing master data. Key webMethods OneData differentiators include:
The ability to manage all domains of master data including hierarchies.
The versatility to support different architectural styles; and both operational MDM and analytical MDM use cases.
The business user-friendly interface for managing and governing information assets.
Data model flexibility, whether the customer's own model or the provided template.
Configuration-only implementations which result in quick roll-outs.
Software AG's process-driven approach to MDM mirrors the assessment of independent analysts regarding the approach organizations must adopt to be successful with MDM. In an October 20, 2010 blog "Software AG Buys Data Foundations: Business Acumen Meets Data Competency", Forrester Research, Inc. principal analyst Rob Karel stated: "The only way master data can reduce risks, improve operational efficiencies, reduce costs, increase revenue, or strategically differentiate an organization is by figuring out how to connect and synchronize that master data into the business processes and decisions most important to an organization's success."
As Software AG looks to the future, its roadmap for webMethods OneData ensures it remains the most powerful, versatile and yet simple to implement MDM solution on the market. Software AG plans to launch specialized offerings for managing customer and product records. The roadmap includes integration with the market-leading ARIS BPA suite, integration with webMethods ESB for data interchange between webMethods OneData and any on-premise and Cloud applications and, finally, integration with webMethods BPMS.
Software AG's webMethods OneData will be presented at CeBIT 2011 in Hanover, Germany from March 1-5, 2011 in Hall 4, Booth D11. Software AG will conduct a webinar on "Adopting a Process-Driven Approach to Master Data Management on March 30, 2011. To register, please visit www.softwareag.com/webinars.
