Stollberg expands market for granulated casting fluxes in North America

New Head of Stollberg North America

Dirk Steinkemper has become Head of Stollberg North America, a step following the long-term corporate development. In this position he will further strengthen Stollberg’s role as a leading supplier of granulated casting fluxes to the North American steel industry.

In addition to becoming Head of the Business Unit Stollberg North America, Dirk Steinkemper takes over the position of Executive Vice President of Stollberg Inc.
Steinkemper departs from his position as Head of the Business Unit Stollberg Deutschland in Oberhausen. His many years of continuous casting experience gained all over the globe have made him a recognized expert familiar with the requirements of the North-American customers.

Against the background of the ongoing globalization of the international steel industry, Steinkemper will foster the integration of the Business Unit North America into the globally active Stollberg Division with the long-term objective of intensifying corporate links. He will place major emphasis on the corporate-wide exchange of know-how between the various locations of the Stollberg Division. Therefore Steinkemper will remain internationally responsible for the technology application field in Germany and the USA.

Also the activities at the Oberhausen location, which is managed by Jürgen Sardemann, General Manager of the Stollberg Division, have been expanded: By hiring the plant manager Bernd Bissot and additional production employees Stollberg has further enlarged the team operating the new, No. 3 spray tower for the production of granulated casting fluxes brought on stream in June 2007.

The STOLLBERG Division within the S&B Industrial Minerals Group develops and produces casting fluxes in powdered or granulated form from mineral raw materials for the international steel industry. It has production sites in the world’s main steelmaking regions in Germany, France, USA, Brazil, India, Korea and China. Each customer receives a product that has been developed and produced specifically to his individual needs and adds high value to his operations as it optimizes the production process and increases efficiency.
Through constant further development of its products, Stollberg continuously strengthens its position as market leader in the field of casting fluxes. For many years the company has collaborated with universities in Germany , Korea, and the USA enabling it to swiftly react to new developments.
Among the customers, which Stollberg has supplied on a regular basis for more than 15 years, are renowned international steel companies such as the Arcelor-Mittal Group, Hüttenwerke Krupp Mannesmann, Nucor, Posco, Salzgitter Stahl, Tata-Corus, ThyssenKrupp Steel, US Steel and voestalpine Stahl.
