CAMBRIDGE, MA — August 29, 2007 — Sapient (NASDAQ: SAPE), a leading global services firm, today announced that James M. Benson has joined its Board of Directors. A seasoned executive with over forty years of experience in the financial services industry, Benson is the former chief executive and president of John Hancock Life Insurance, which merged with Manulife Financial in 2004 to become the largest public life insurance company in Canada, the second largest life insurer in North America and the fifth largest in the world.
Prior to joining Hancock in 2002, Benson was president of MetLife’s Individual Business enterprise, which included the leadership of MetLife Financial Services, New England Financial, GenAmerica Financial, MetLive Investors Group, Texas Life and Nathan & Lewis Securities. He was also chairman, president and chief executive officer of New England Financial, as well as chairman, president and chief executive officer of GenAmerica Financial Corporation, both MetLife affiliates. Previously, Benson held the dual position of president and chief operating officer of Equitable Companies, Inc., and was chief executive officer of its flagship life insurance operation, Equitable Life Assurance Society.
