plasmadust - metallization and coating of substrates - chemical-free and power-efficient

Reinhausen Plasma presents world first at the productronica

(PresseBox) (Regensburg, )
Whether temperature-sensitive plastics, metals, silicium disks, glass, foil or paper - for the first time, Reinhausen Plasma GmbH's patented plasmadust technology permits almost all materials to be metallized and coated without solvents and with extreme power efficiency. The basis of the coating procedure developed by this Regensburg (Germany) company is a combination process of cold.active plasma and micro/nano particles. Reinhausen Plasma is presenting this world first at the productronica in Munich from November 10 to 13, 2009.

The nanopowder plasma deposition technology - plasmadust for short - developed by Reinhausen Plasma combines plasma technology and micro or nanopowders to allow direct-coating processes completely without chemicals. This means that coating is VOC-free. There is also no need for etching and staining processes which are indispensable in classical surface treatment.

Minimal power consumption due to nanopowder and cold.active plasma In addition to the resulting exemplary environmental friendliness, this patented plasmadust procedure requires a minimum amount of power. This is because of the micro/nanopowders which melt at low temperatures and can thus be processed by low-energy plasma systems under ambient pressure. For example, the coating of a substrate of one square meter requires only approximately 1/10 to 1/100 of the power required by thermal injection processes.

Another development of Reinhausen Plasma - so-called cold.active plasma sources - also contribute to the efficient use of energy. With these systems the gas temperature does not exceed 70° C under atmospheric pressure whereby temperature-sensitive materials such as plastics, foil and paper can also be coated.

Precise coats at a higher coating rate The plasmadust procedure can be used to deposit both continuous and structured coats starting with a thickness of 1 µm precisely and efficiently with very good adherence for 2 and 3-dimensional parts. And the tempo is fast - process speeds of up to 150 m/min can be achieved.

Wide range of applications in numerous branches Various nanopowders are available for use as coating materials. In addition, material combinations such as carbon/metal are possible which cannot be processed with conventional coating procedures and this naturally opens up totally new applications. Thus plasmadust offers an extremely wide range of possible uses. Examples include environmentally-friendly and cost-optimized coating of silicium disks, metallization of solar cells, manufacturing of flexible circuit boards, printed electronics, sputter targets, thin-film batteries, fuel cell membranes and the implementation of light-weight structures for the automobile industry.

Reinhausen Plasma will be presenting the plasmadust procedure during the productronica (Hall A4, Stand 445) in Munich (Germany) from November 10 to 13, 2009. The atmospheric pressure plasma tools - plasmabrush and piezobrush - will also be shown there. plasmabrush is a system for cold.active purification and activation of surfaces and work pieces. The hand-held plasma device called piezobrush was developed for cost-effective surface activation in small areas.

relyon plasma GmbH

Reinhausen Plasma GmbH is a subsidiary of Maschinenfabrik Reinhausen GmbH, the world's market and technology leader for the regulation of power transformers which is also located in Regensburg. Reinhausen Plasma is an innovative provider of plasma solutions for surface refinement and coating. The company has set new standards in cleaning and surface activation with plasma through the development of the cold.active atmospheric pressure plasma tools called plasmabrush and piezobrush. These tools are distinguished by low temperature, slow gas speed, extreme ability of plasma to enter cavities and high purity of the gases. For the first time, the patented plasmadust procedure permits 2 and 3-dimensional components from almost any materials to be coated without solvents and chemicals (VOC-free) and with efficient use of energy.
