Fern von Aleppo: Bericht von einer Flucht aus Syrien

Lesung am 9. Juli mit Faisal Hamdo in der Gedenkstätte Ahlem

Faisal Hamdo, 1989 in Aleppo geboren, arbeitete nach dem Studium der Physiotherapie mit Kindern mit besonderem Förderbedarf sowie ehrenamtlich in provisorischen Krankenhäusern seiner Heimatstadt. Während des Arabischen Frühlings nahm er wie viele syrische Studierende an Demonstrationen gegen das Regime teil. 2014 flüchtete er aufgrund akuter Gefährdung über die Türkei nach Deutschland. Nach zahlreichen Sprachkursen und Berufsanpassungsqualifikationen arbeitete Hamdo zunächst in der Altenpflege und einer Physiotherapiepraxis. Seit März 2016 ist er in einem Universitätsklinikum tätig. Seine Erfahrungen veröffentlichte er in seinem ersten Buch: „Fern von Aleppo – Wie ich als Syrer in Deutschland lebe“. Am Sonntag, 9. Juli 2023, 15 Uhr, liest er daraus in der Gedenkstätte Ahlem vor.
