PSI presents the first fully configurable test procedure for WMS

Automated testing of warehouse processes

(PresseBox) (Berlin, )
When it comes to the further development of warehouse management systems (WMS), regular software tests are crucial for quality assurance. To simplify these tests, PSI has developed the first fully configurable test tool for WMS. With the automated testing procedure integrated into the PSIwms software, PSI offers a particularly intuitive solution for simulating intralogistics processes.

The functionality of a warehouse must be tested regularly to ensure that after changes in the WMS or in the intralogistics all relevant processes run permanently and with consistent quality. It is essential that users can test the system themselves after they made changes to the intralogistics or a new software release has been installed. With this in mind, the flexibly configurable PSIwms system offers these options.

Christian Welter, Pre Sales BU Logistics at PSI Software SE, emphasizes the ease of use: “We ensure that every user on customer side can test configured processes independently as well as test processes that have been configured by the customer themselves. For this purpose, we offer a professional test procedure that can be fully configured with minimal programming knowledge. That is a unique selling point.”

During an automated test in PSIwms, physical or software-based processes are checked for functionality and accuracy. Test cases defined in the program serve as a basis. These test suites can be used in all logistics areas, from goods receipt and picking to high-priority notifications. Even rarely used special processes such as complex cross-docking variants are checked. All predefined test cases are automatically simulated on a regular basis using a test database that maps the warehouse. Thus, for example, hundreds of inbound deliveries with different control parameters can be virtually received, transferred, picked and shipped within a few minutes. In doing so, the program uncovers possible need for action without affecting the physical warehouse.
