Portwell WADE 8214 Q870 Mini ITX Board Powered by Intel® Core™ Ultra Processors (Series 2)

(PresseBox) (Nieuw Vennep, Netherlands, )
Portwell, a global innovator in industrial embedded computing solutions, launched the WADE‑8214‑Q870, a high-performance Mini‑ITX motherboard powered by Intel® Core™ Ultra Processors (Series 2). Designed to address the growing demand for AI‑enabled edge computing, high‑speed connectivity, and multi‑display performance, the WADE‑8214‑Q870 integrates the Intel® Q870 chipset to deliver advanced computing capability for industrial and embedded markets.

As industries accelerate digital transformation and AI‑driven automation, computing platforms must provide higher bandwidth, expanded I/O flexibility, and enhanced graphics performance. The WADE‑8214‑Q870 is engineered to meet these evolving requirements, offering PCIe Gen 5 expansion, DDR5 memory support, and rich industrial connectivity in a compact Mini‑ITX form factor.

Advanced Architecture and High-Speed Connectivity for Evolving Edge Performance

WADE‑8214‑Q870 supports Intel® Core™ Ultra Series 2 processors (LGA1851), leveraging a hybrid architecture optimized for AI workloads, advanced graphics, and real‑time processing. With integrated AI acceleration capabilities and enhanced power efficiency, the platform is ideal for edge inference, intelligent control systems, and high‑performance embedded computing.

Built on the Intel® Q870 chipset, WADE‑8214‑Q870 delivers a comprehensive set of high-speed expansion and connectivity features, including a PCIe 5.0 x16 slot supporting high‑bandwidth GPUs or AI accelerator cards; dual DDR5 SO‑DIMM sockets supporting up to 96GB at 6400 MT/s; one M.2 Key M (PCIe Gen 5) and one M.2 Key E (PCIe & CNVi) for flexible storage and wireless expansion; and triple‑display capability via 2x DP 1.4, 1x HDMI® 2.1, USB‑C with DP Alt Mode, and LVDS/eDP.

The board further enhances networking performance with dual LAN ports—Intel® i210 (1GbE) and Intel® i226LM (2.5GbE)—while offering up to 12 USB ports (including USB 3.2 Gen 2 and Gen 1), along with 5 COM ports and 4 SATA III interfaces to support a wide range of industrial peripherals and storage requirements.

“Industrial customers today require platforms that can balance AI computing power, high‑speed expansion, and long‑term reliability,” said Nick Huang, Product Manager of WADE-8214-Q870. “With PCIe Gen 5 readiness, DDR5 memory, and robust graphics output, the WADE‑8214‑Q870 provides a scalable architecture that enables customers to deploy intelligent systems with confidence.”

Optimized for Factory Automation, Medical Systems, and Gaming Platforms

WADE‑8214‑Q870 is designed to support multiple performance‑intensive industrial sectors.

For factory automation, its 5 COM ports, PCIe x16 expansion, and dual LAN architecture enable machine vision systems, motion control, robotics integration, and real‑time data acquisition. High USB density ensures seamless connectivity to sensors, cameras, and peripherals.

In medical equipment, triple independent display capability (HDMI® 2.1 + 2x DP 1.4) supports multi‑screen diagnostic visualization, surgical imaging, and medical workstation deployment. The stable DDR5 platform and industrial‑grade networking enhance reliability for clinical environments.

For gaming machines and entertainment systems, PCIe 5.0 x16 expansion supports high‑performance GPU integration, while 2.5GbE networking provides high‑speed connectivity for online or networked gaming applications.

“By combining strong computing performance with graphics scalability and broad industrial I/O connectivity in a compact Mini‑ITX design, the WADE‑8214‑Q870 enables customers to streamline system integration and scale across a wide range of applications,” added Huang.

Enabling Intelligent Industrial Transformation with Scalable Performance

With the rapid expansion of AI at the edge, machine vision, and high‑resolution display applications, industrial platforms must evolve beyond traditional embedded designs. WADE‑8214‑Q870 delivers a balanced combination of computing power, bandwidth, and connectivity to accelerate digital transformation across factory automation, medical, and gaming industries.

By integrating Intel® Core™ Ultra Series 2 processors, PCIe Gen 5 expansion, DDR5 memory, and multi‑display capability within a compact Mini‑ITX form factor (170mm x 170mm), Portwell reinforces its commitment to providing scalable, long‑lifecycle embedded solutions. The WADE‑8214‑Q870 empowers system integrators and OEM partners to build intelligent, high‑performance systems designed for sustained industrial deployment.
