PHOTON – das Solarstrommagazin ist die erste und mit 50.000 Exemplaren auflagenstärkste deutsche Zeitschrift zum Thema Solarstrom. Sie erscheint seit 1996 in der PHOTON Europe GmbH (vormals Solar Verlag GmbH). Weitere Publikationen des Verlages sind die englischsprachige und weltweit erscheinende Solarstromzeitschrift PHOTON International, Solarstrom-Magazine in italienischer, spanischer und chinesischer Sprache sowie das Verbrauchermagazin Haus+Energie. Die Gesamtauflage beträgt rund drei Millionen Exemplare im Jahr. Die PHOTON-Gruppe beschäftigt in acht Ländern rund 150 Mitarbeiterinnen und Mitarbeiter und unterhält Tochterfirmen in den USA und China. Mit der PHOTON Laboratory GmbH betreibt PHOTON als einziger Verlag ein eigenes Testlabor für Photovoltaikkomponenten mit Schwerpunkt Solarmodule, Wechselrichter, Steckverbinder und solarbetriebene Produkte für Endverbraucher.
