Filter tubes efficiently manufactured with sewing or welding technology from PFAFF INDUSTRIAL and KSL

(PresseBox) (Kaiserslautern, )
PFAFF Industriesysteme und Maschinen GmbH (with the brands PFAFF INDUSTRIAL and KSL) has continuously expanded its filtration portfolio in recent years. The company now offers four efficient solutions for the fully automated production of filter tubes. All production systems are modular in design and are designed and realised according to customer requirements (material, type of filter, etc.).  The high degree of automation of the systems guarantees maximum output with maximum process reliability. The production principle is the same for all four solutions – the material is continuously sewn or welded into a tube and automatically cut to length in a single operation.

The KL 200 (designed and produced at the KSL site in Bensheim) is the high-end version for the fully automatic production of air and gas filters. The system can be equipped with a sewing unit and/or a welding unit for creating the tubular seam, depending on the filter material. When working with needle felting, we recommend using a sewing unit (with 3-needle double chainstitch feed-of-the arm head & optional folding unit for the double felled seam) – and a hot air welding unit (PFAFF 8320) for thermoplastic materials.

The KL 200's reliable unwinding system with material guide and edge control system guarantee an exact, straight seam. The compensator in the system ensures continuous production without interruption. The material rolls are changed while the machine is running – this minimises waste and increases output. A length measuring system and a material cutting device (operated or programmed using a modern touch control panel) are used to automatically cut the filter tubes to length (filter tube diameter: min. 90 mm, max. 350 mm). The KL 200 can be extended with many options, e.g. an ink jet printer for customized printing during the production process or a dot marking device for marking the position of support rings.

Alternative solutions to the KL 200 from PFAFF INDUSTRIAL in Kaiserslautern:

PFAFF 4507:
Similar functionality to KL 200 – more economical, but fewer additional functions

PFAFF 4504:
Version with ultrasonic welding unit for creating the longitudinal seam

PFAFF 4508:
The solution for the production of liquid filters. The system can also be used to create a bottom seam. The bottom seam can be welded in a v-shape or (new) curved shape formation, depending on the design. A C&S process is used for this (cutting and sealing in ONE operation).

The diversity of "joining methods" (sewing, ultrasonic welding, hot-air welding, hot-wedge welding) and the option to customize the modular design of each production system make PFAFF INDUSTRIAL/KSL the "first-choice" supplier for the production of filter tubes. Only one operator is required for each system. Production can run at speeds of up to 20 m/min. with a welding unit and up to 10 m/min. with a sewing unit (e.g. overlap seam or double felled seam).
