- FOXTEL’s new iQ2 High Definition DVR is powered by NDS XTV™ software
- The FOXTEL iQ2’s next-generation EPG, developed by NDS, provides seamless access to HD content
- NDS provided the systems integration services for the FOXTEL iQ2 HD DVR

NDS, the leading provider of technology solutions for digital pay-TV, today announced that FOXTEL, Australia's leading subscription television provider, has selected NDS XTV™ DVR technology to power its new FOXTEL iQ2 High Definition quad tuner DVR. NDS has also developed a next-generation EPG for the FOXTEL iQ2 and carried out the systems integration for the launch of FOXTEL’s HD services.

The new FOXTEL iQ2 is both HD and SD compatible and its multiple tuners will allow viewers to record two shows simultaneously while watching live TV and receiving On Demand content. In just the few weeks since its launch in June, more than 20,000 FOXTEL customers have already upgraded to FOXTEL HD+ and the FOXTEL iQ2 DVR.

Peter Smart, FOXTEL’s Director of Engineering said, “The launch of FOXTEL iQ2 would not have been possible without NDS’ market-leading XTV technology and unrivalled systems integration expertise. FOXTEL continually invests and innovates for the benefit of our consumers. FOXTEL HD+ provides stunning HD pictures and immersive surround sound, new exclusive programming, and a new personal video recorder, the FOXTEL iQ2. “

Peter Iles, General Manager, NDS Australia, commented: “Having worked with FOXTEL since the launch of its first DVR back in 2005, we are extremely pleased that our XTV DVR technology continues to be the platform of choice for FOXTEL. This latest collaboration enables FOXTEL to offer its subscribers an advanced, world-class digital entertainment service.”

NDS XTV technology allows subscribers to pause, record, play back, rewind and fast forward their TV programs for viewing when they choose. DVR technology from NDS has been deployed in over 12.1 million units around the globe, firmly establishing NDS as world market leader.

The new FOXTEL iQ2 DVR has a 320GB hard drive and comes with a HDMI connection. Subscribers will be able to record approximately 30 hours of HD programming or 90 hours of SD programming. The number of hours recorded will depend on the mix between HD and SD as well as the mix between channel genres.
