The safe choice in solar power connections

Solar Safety Matters

(PresseBox) (Allschwil, )
The market-leading photovoltaic connector manufacturer Stäubli intensifies its activities in the area of safety for solar power plants at Intersolar in Munich, Hall A4 Booth 560.

As the inventor of the Original MC4 PV DC connector, which is the most used worldwide, we see it as our responsibility to share our longstanding expertise with our customers. Being active in the photovoltaic industry for more than 25 years, we have built up a broad network in the industry and were able to establish expert know-how. Based on this background, Stäubli Renewable Energy invites its visitors at the industry’s most important life event in Europe to extend their awareness on various aspects of safety in photovoltaic installations.

Safe even in the harshest setting

As the world continues to shift steadily towards renewable energy sources, with solar photovoltaics representing more than one-third of generation growth, more and more PV plants will be installed in areas with special or extreme climate conditions. It is precisely in areas with such harsh conditions, like deserts and high mountain ranges, that offer large unused spaces and optimal solar radiation for efficient photovoltaic systems. The Original Stäubli MC4 connector portfolio has a proven track record for such kind of applications and is the first in the industry to be certified according to TÜV Rheinland. Our experts at the Stäubli booth 560 in Hall A4 at Intersolar will highlight what is important for electrical installations in such environments and why the Stäubli MC4 product portfolio stands-out for this kind of applications.

Safe handling and assembly

Among the 20 most common technical failures in operation, incorrect and/or missing cable connections and broken or burned connectors rank first and second place in terms of financial impacts. Improper installation can cause significant risks to the long-term and reliable operation of solar power plants. Therefore, we invite the visitors to interactive and hands-on sessions at the Stäubli booth on Intersolar.

True PV safety. Simplified.

Stäubli is committed to offering products and services that help minimize the technical risks of PV installations. We continuously enhance the MC4 eBOS product portfolio with valuable components. After the launch of the high-quality In-line Fuse “MC4-Evo 2 ILF3” and the “MC4-Evo 2 Y-splitter branch harness” as DC interconnection solutions last year, there is a new product combining the functionality of both in one unique solution, offering customer-specific lengths.

For verifying of the connector installations in the field, there is a completely new set of accessories to measure current and voltage up to 1500 V DC. These test leads are certified to the harmonized test and measurement standard according to UL and IEC 61010-031. The included MC4 connector is equipped with a gold-plated barrel-crimp terminal for accurate measurements and high mating cycles.

Together with our industry partners and customers we are working together to make the PV industry even safer. Our commitment to quality guarantees durability of the photovoltaic connectors, safe and reliable operation of photovoltaic power plants as well as planning security for sustainable returns.
