Die Modulfamilie MSC CXC-BT im Compact-Formfaktor 95 x 95 mm bietet eine breite Auswahl an Schnittstellen. Neben dem PCI-Bus (32 Bit) sind bis zu acht USB 2.0 Interfaces, LPC, vier PCI Express™ x1 Lanes Gen. 2.0 und Gbit Ethernet vorhanden. Alternativ stehen zwei SATA-Anschlüsse (bis 3 Gb/s) bzw. ein PATA und ein SATA Interface zur Verfügung. Zusätzlich ist ein Sockel für eine MicroSD-Karte vorgesehen. Über LCD (LVDS 24 Bit, dual-channel) und VGA lassen sich zwei unabhängige Displays anschließen. Die Module sind über zwei 204 Pin-Sockel mit bis zu 8 GB Dual-channel DDR3L SDRAM (DDR1333, low voltage) bestückbar.
Heute umfasst die COM Express™ Type 2-Plattform MSC CXC-BT sieben Varianten. Neben einem Modul mit Quad-core Intel® Atom™-Prozessor E3845 (1,91 GHz, 10 W TDP) sind Baugruppen mit den Dual-core CPUs Intel® Atom™ E3827 (1,75 GHz, 8 W TDP), E3826 (1,46 GHz, 7 W TDP) und E3825 (1,33 GHz, 6 W TDP) erhältlich. Für weniger anspruchsvolle Anwendungen ist ein Modul mit Single-core Intel® Atom™ E3815 (1,46 GHz, 5 W TDP) lieferbar. Module mit diesen Prozessoren können auf Anfrage auch für einen erweiterten Temperaturbereich angeboten werden. Darüber hinaus sind leistungsstarke Computer-On-Module mit den Intel® Celeron™-Prozessoren N2930 (1,83/2,16 GHz, 7,5 W TDP) und J1900 (2,00/2,42 GHz, 10 W TDP) mit vier CPU-Kernen im MSC-Portfolio. Die Celeron-Prozessoren können im Turbo-Mode kurzzeitig mit erhöhter Taktrate betrieben werden. Alle Prozessoren unterstützen Intel® 64, die Intel® Virtualization-Technologie und Intel® AES-NI.
Der zu den Intel® Atom™-Prozessoren gehörende Chipsatz und die Intel® HD Graphics Gen 7 sind in der CPU (SOC) integriert. Die Hardware-Beschleunigung bei der HD-Video-Decodierung umfasst den Support für H.264, MPEG2, MVC, VC-1, WMV 9 und VP8 Formate. DirectX® 1.1, OpenGL 3.2 und OpenCL™ 1.1 werden unterstützt.
