176 degrees horizontal and vertical viewing angles

New 9.0-inch WVGA TFT LCD module NL8048BC24-04 from NEC LCD Technologies

(PresseBox) (Stutensee (Germany), )
The 9.0-inch WVGA TFT LCD module, part number NL8048BC24-04 (Distribution: Gleichmann Electronics), was specifically designed for applications in which an ultra-wide viewing angle and color consistency are important.

Features of the wide-format LCD module, which is based on NEC LCD Technologies' ultra-advanced, super-fine TFT (UA-SFT) technology, include: horizontal and vertical viewing angles of 176 degrees, a luminance of 350 cd/m2, an excellent contrast ratio of 800:1 and a replaceable CCFL backlight with an average life of 50000 hours. The UA-SFT technology prevents the unavoidable color shifts, which occur with twisted nematic (TN) versions, due to changes in viewing angle. Thereby, information for the viewer can be read easily and more precisely.

The outer dimensions of the NL8048BC24-04 as well as the positions of mounting holes and screen center are compatible with twisted nematic (TN) products. The signal compatibility with conventional displays, supporting a WVGA-type LVDS interface, is also guaranteed. This enables the user to replace a module in an existing application without changes to the software or hardware. Among other things, the NL8048BC24-04 can also be used in portrait mode without any change in picture quality.

The NL8048BC24-04 is specified for a temperature range from -20°C to +70°C. Datasheets are immediately available from Gleichmann Electronics. First samples are expected to be available during the fourth quarter of 2008.

MSC Technologies GmbH

Founded in 1979, Gleichmann & Co. Electronics GmbH, in the same company group with MSC Vertriebs GmbH, has established itself as one of the leading pan-European distributors of electronic assemblies and components. One of the reasons for the high acceptance by customers and suppliers is the company's early focus on comparatively few, highly sophisticated products such as microcontrollers, programmable logic devices, displays and customer specific power supplies. From this, the resulting in-depth technical know-how of our sales engineers and field application engineers today enables us, if required by the customer, even implementation of complete new designs right up to the finished product. With two of its own ASIC design centers, the Gleichmann research laboratory in Austria and one of the largest and most modern programming centers in Europe, Gleichmann Electronics takes a leading role in terms of service and customer support.
