The 21st Jena Acoustics Day took place on May 23, 2026, at the Lecture Hall Center of the Ernst Abbe University of Applied Sciences in Jena, bringing together experts from academia, industry, and applied acoustics.
Microtech Gefell GmbH once again supported the event as a partner and exhibitor, presenting the latest developments in electroacoustic measurement technology—including high-precision measurement microphones, digital measurement chains, and new solutions for research, industry, and environmental monitoring.
The Jena Acoustics Day is a high-profile regional, interdisciplinary conference that has been bringing together current topics from science, technology, and society related to hearing, noise, and acoustics for two decades.
The focus has traditionally been on the phenomenon of “noise”—from its origin and effects to its prevention.
Technical Highlights 2026 (selection):
- Presentations on new measurement methods, e.g., rolling noise measurement according to DIN EN ISO 11819-2 and developments related to CPX measurements
- Contributions from research and industry, including:
o Acoustics in mobility and architecture
o Psychoacoustics and perception research
o Audio technologies, signal processing, AI-based acoustics
Focus areas for 2026:
- Technical presentations on room acoustics, sound propagation, measurement methods, and signal processing.
- Poster session featuring early-career researchers from universities and institutes.
- Industry exhibition: Microtech Gefell showcased measurement microphones, calibration solutions, and practical applications for research and industry, e.g., specific measurement methods, calibration tips, and hands-on demonstrations
Of particular interest was the MV 240 USB—a groundbreaking new development for modern measurement and recording workflows.
This new development combines the acoustic precision of classic Gefell microphone technology with modern digital connectivity—ideal for laboratories, industry, research, and education.
With the new USB interfaces, the microphones enable a direct, high-resolution connection to PC-based measurement systems and mobile setups.
The new MicrophoneCenter administration software was also presented here.
MicrophoneCenter is an administration software for Microtech Gefell microphones with a digital USB connection.
Its simple graphical user interface enables an intuitive workflow for configuring, monitoring, and checking one or more USB microphones connected to a computer.
The software directly analyzes the digital output signal from the microphones arriving at the USB interface, allowing its correct transmission to be verified before it is transferred to measurement or recording software.
In MicrophoneCenter, the USB microphones connected to the computer are automatically detected and displayed in an overview with a unique label.
Selecting a microphone opens a dashboard where all microphone parameters are clearly displayed. This includes identification parameters such as manufacturer, type, and serial number; hardware and firmware parameters such as processor number and firmware version; and technical parameters such as sampling frequency and polarization voltage.
