Positive market environment spurs on transport logistic China 2010

(PresseBox) (München, )
Positive market forecasts for China, the continuing development of Shanghai into a hub for finance and freight transport, and the parallel timing of the global exhibition Expo 2010 are spurring on the preparations for transport logistic China 2010. The 4th International Exhibition for Logistics, Telematics and Transport is taking place at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC) in China from 8 to 10 June 2010.

Eugen Egetenmeir, a member of the Management Board of Messe München says: “Both our team in Munich and our subsidiary in Shanghai have already received applications. We are confident that we will achieve another successful event in 2010. 431 exhibitors and more than 11,000 trade visitors from 77 countries took part in transport logistic China 2008, making the fair the most important industry platform in Asia.” The 2010 fair will once again attract many countries and regions from Europe. As well as a joint stand from Germany, sponsored by the Federal Ministry of Economics, Belgium, the Czech Republic, France, Italy, the Netherlands and Russia have also announced they will be making joint appearances. Another international attraction will be Air Cargo China, an integral part of the fair, in which air cargo companies, airports and related service providers present their range of goods and services.

transport logistic China will be taking its place in an upbeat market environment in 2010. This spring the central Chinese government decided to develop Shanghai into an international finance centre and hub for freight transport by 2020. The metropolis has been pursuing this goal for years, and now the first time it is receiving official state support and acknowledgment from Beijing. Container handling in Shanghai has grown extremely rapidly over the past ten years, with capacity now at 280 million containers per year. This makes Shanghai the second largest container port in the world after Singapore, and if measured by cargo tonnage, it is actually the biggest.

Despite the global crisis, the Chinese economy grew by almost eight percent in the second quarter of 2009. According to Dr Yi Gang, Deputy Governor of the People’s Bank of China, the retail sector saw an increase of more than fifteen percent in the first eight months of this year. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) is predicting gross domestic product growth of nine percent for 2010. So it is not surprising if many experts are forecasting that China, and Asia as a whole, will be the first to benefit as soon as the global economy starts moving again – in fact it is expected that the ‘Middle Kingdom’ will actually be driving this development.

transport logistic China is also benefiting from the parallel timing of the global exhibition Expo 2010 in Shanghai. Under the title ‘Better City, Better Life’, the global exhibition provides many thematic links to innovations in transport and logistics. International visitor groups can benefit from both events while they are in Shanghai.
