– Memorysolution, Germany's leading independent memory specialist, announced that it had taken over EMEA distribution for Nanya / Elixir already at the end of 2008. "What can look so logical on the maps of global players represents, however, an enormous challenge for every distributor, one that we certainly plan to measure up to," is the reason Gerald Diercks, managing director of the Breisach-based company, gives for the delayed announcement. "We will also live up to our reputation as a competent and reliable supplier for top-of-the-line memory products in the future but we first had to adapt our structures to the various requirements. On a global map, EMEA seems to be such a logical thing when it comes to merging distribution structures. In reality, the cultural, financial and social differences are greater here than anywhere else in the world. Not even to mention the seemingly simple trade practices."
But for all that, Diercks still considers his company well-equipped for the challenges to come. "International business is not new territory for Memorysolution," is how he describes the company's starting position. "But responsible EMEA distribution is really more than just pumping new products into existing channels. The idea is to identify markets where this business is developing at the right time, to find competent partners and then stake one's claim before others notice that there's even anything there to claim. Africa, for example, will soon have its own versions of "Asian Tigers". Thanks to Memorysolution, Nanya will have an excellent reputation and solid name recognition in these "African Lions". But this is only one part of the job that awaits us. EMEA still begins with the letter E, as in Europe."
