Chemspec Europe 2017: Europe’s key trade show for the fine and speciality chemicals industry returns to Munich with a strong line-up

(PresseBox) (St Albans, )
Chemspec Europe, the International Exhibition for Fine and Speciality Chemicals, makes a return to Munich for its 32nd edition. From 31 May – 1 June 2017, manufacturers, suppliers and distributors of fine and speciality chemicals will showcase their latest products, services and research findings to a dedicated audience of professionals within the industry sector.

Taking place at the Munich Trade Fair Centre in Germany, Chemspec Europe provides its attendees with access and networking opportunities to blue chip and SME suppliers from around the globe, covering the whole spectrum of custom, fine and speciality chemicals for various industries, including pharma, agriculture, food & drink, cosmetics, household & industrial cleaning, water treatment, adhesives & sealants, reprography & printing, colourants & dyestuffs, polymers and much more.

Last year’s Chemspec Europe 2016 in Basel registered an increase of 10 % in exhibitor and 30 % in visitor numbers, compared to the year before. Looking at the current booking figures for Munich, Chemspec Europe 2017 is set to continue its success story: three months before the start of the exhibition, a total of 321 exhibitors from 24 countries have already secured their stand space at this year’s event.

Amongst those companies are Albemarle, Arkema France, CABB AG, Charles River, Chevron Phillips Chemicals International N.V., Evonik, Johnson Matthey, Kemira Oyj, Lonza Ltd, Merck, Solvay, Sumitomo Chemical Europe SA/NV, Tosoh Europe B.V., Wacker Chemie AG and many more. Due to the rising demand for stand space, the exhibition space has been extended twice already, underlining the show’s unique position as the premier specialised trading and networking event for the fine and speciality chemicals industry in Europe.

Liljana Goszdziewski, Exhibition Director at show organiser Mack Brooks Exhibitions, explains: “Chemspec Europe has evolved into something much bigger than a simple trade exhibition. There is no other industry platform in Europe where you can connect with so many different fine and speciality chemicals manufacturers and suppliers in one place over two days. At the same time, it is a place to network and to learn about the complex mechanisms and markets of this very diverse industry. Chemspec Europe’s unique role as a powerful gateway to global business and industry knowledge is exactly what makes the event so appealing to both exhibitors and visitors.”

Top enterprises and smart SMEs offering expert solutions

Chemspec Europe clearly reflects the global scale and structure of the fine and speciality chemicals industry, with a strong participation of exhibitors from Great Britain, Germany, France, Switzerland, China, India and the USA. The markets for fine and speciality chemicals are highly fragmented and suppliers range from small, privately owned companies to large, diversified chemical enterprises and divisions.

Chemspec Europe 2017 will host a fair number of global market leaders amongst its exhibitors but also many small and medium-sized companies, which are very important to the market. “Some of the highly competitive companies increasingly focus on their core competencies. The emerging niches offer new opportunities for SMEs to operate as specialised sub-contractors, offering clever solutions and services to purchasers and agents looking for specific ingredients or processes”, explains Goszdziewski.

According to the previous show survey, visitors are particularly interested in sourcing chemical intermediates, pharmaceuticals, industrial chemicals, agrochemicals, general chemicals, custom synthesis, contract & toll manufacturing, coatings, catalysts, polymers, adhesives & sealants, as well as bio-based chemicals.

Munich – a key location for Europe’s chemical industries

Chemspec Europe is held annually at different locations in Europe. For 2017, the show makes a return to Munich in Germany, where the events in 2008 and 2013 were hosted. The show takes place in halls A5 and A6 at the Munich Trade Fair Centre and is accessible via the East Entrance.

The Munich Trade Fair Centre is one of the most popular event venues in Europe and is famous for its generous layout and modern facilities. It is well-connected to the city centre, as well as Munich International Airport, with direct flights to all major European cities and many overseas destinations.

The city of Munich is located in Bavaria, one of Europe’s most advanced and strongest economic regions, boasting a wide range of industries and sectors. Bavaria is also a key location for the German chemicals industry, with a total workforce of more than 61,000 and annual sales of more than € 16 billion. Highly successful research partnerships between companies and research institutes provide a powerful growth engine for a dynamic business environment.
