Liquid helium cools magnets in MRI systems
Linde and Siemens signed major helium supply contract in China
(PresseBox) (Hoellriegelskreuth, )In Shenzhen, Siemens has built a state-of-the-art production facility to manufacture complete MRI systems intended for the Chinese and Export markets. In conjunction with this facility, which began operations in early 2005, Linde has installed and is currently operating an on-site helium center.
Under a total gas management concept, Linde is providing fresh helium and other industrial gases as well as recovery and re-liquefaction services. Additionally, Linde’s on site operating personnel are handling the sensitive magnet cool down procedure thus allowing Siemens’ engineers to focus on other aspects of the manufacturing process.
“We have chosen Linde because of their innovative technical approach and expertise in helium supply and recovery. We look forward to having a long term, mutually beneficial relationship with Linde in Shenzhen” said Mr. Dietmar Lehne, Supply Chain Management MR, Siemens Medical Solutions.
“Siemens is one of Linde’s most important global customers. We are very pleased to have been selected as a partner in their production facility in Shenzhen. With a growing footprint in China and a strong worldwide helium supply network, Linde is well positioned to provide Siemens with a secure product supply and an unparallel level of services” said Dr. Bernd Conrad, Linde’s Hong Kong-based General Manager Asia Pacific.
