Krause xStream with Smart-Chiller: Energy-efficient laser cooling reduces power consumption by 72%

(PresseBox) (Bielefeld, )
Starting in 2026, the Krause xStream will feature an innovative cooling solution for its integrated lasers: the new Smart-Chiller. Precise temperature control is a critical factor for laser lifespan, printing plate quality, and high machine uptime. With the Smart-Chiller, Krause is setting new benchmarks in efficiency, sustainability, and operational reliability.

Compared to conventional laboratory cooling units, the Smart-Chiller reduces power consumption by up to 72 percent. At the same time, the system completely eliminates the use of refrigerants with greenhouse effects, as well as fluorinated or partially fluorinated greenhouse gases (F-gases), in compliance with EU Regulation 2024/573. This makes the Smart-Chiller exceptionally eco-friendly and ensures safe shipping. The combination of energy savings and sustainable technology helps users make their production processes more cost-effective and future-proof.

In addition to its high energy efficiency, the Smart-Chiller stands out for its reliable and precise temperature regulation. Stable cooling protects the lasers from thermal fluctuations, contributing significantly to consistently high plate quality. Simultaneously, optimized cooling increases machine availability and reduces potential downtime. The system also offers advantages for the work environment: the Smart-Chiller operates extremely quietly and generates no noise pollution while in standby mode.

By integrating the unit into the xStream control system, the Smart-Chiller can be monitored continuously. When used in conjunction with Krause SmartService, the system enables transparent monitoring and predictive maintenance.

The Smart-Chiller will be included as a standard feature with new Krause xStream systems starting in April 2026. Additionally, a retrofit solution is available, allowing customers to upgrade their existing systems to the new cooling technology. With this innovation, Krause is making a targeted investment in sustainable efficiency, maximum operational safety, and long-term stability in printing plate quality.
