Kögel NOVUM Generation - Bestseller Cargo Now Even More Flexible and Robust

(PresseBox) (Burtenbach, )
.
- Kögel Cargo: with a high degree of customisation
- Wide range of options for load-securing
- New: the Kögel FastFix textile lattice
- New: Kögel EasyFix – simple and safe sliding roof stopper

A Kögel highlight at the IAA Commercial Vehicles 2018 is the Kögel bestseller Cargo. This standard platform trailer with sliding tarpaulin has of course also undergone the NOVUM generation upgrade. The optimised external frame profile and the improved body not only make the Kögel Cargo even more robust, but also simplify handling in daily use. In addition, the NOVUM generation Cargo scores with a very high degree of customisation and can thus be adapted to the specific requirements of forwarding companies.

The NOVUM generation Kögel Cargo

In addition to the well-known advantages of the NOVUM generation – such as the new air and lighting console on the front wall, which transfers the forces into the frame via the side members, the new external frame profile, which greatly increases the accessibility of the VarioFix lashing points, and the variable lattice pockets – Kögel Cargo has extensive standard equipment. Fitted with standard Kögel KTA trailer axles, the Cargo trailers feature axle units characterised by easy maintenance, excellent tracking and reliability. The unique “double suspension” of the KTA, made from a soft rubber bearing and a trailing arm, made from spring steel,, not only enhances the driving characteristics of the trailer but also reduces tyre wear. The 13 pairs of lashing shackles, included as standard, are now available with grip hooks at the sides for easier handling, and have a tensile force of 2,500 kg. Naturally, the NOVUM generation Kögel Cargo has the EN 12642 Code XL load-securing certificate.

Optimum load-securing to meet the most varied requirements

For optimum load-securing, the VarioFix perforated steel external frame is equipped with an optional 24 pairs of lashing shackles, each shackle affording 2,500 kg of tensile force. As an additional option, eight stake pocket strips can be integrated flush with the loading platform to secure the load. Between the external frame and the left and right-hand side members, each of the strips has four stake pockets, while between each of the side members in the middle of the vehicle there are ten stake pockets. The exhibit on display at IAA 2018 is equipped with different optional load-securing packages in each stake field. For example, in one of the stake fields you can see the new Kögel FastFix textile lattice. Ordinary wooden, aluminium or steel lattices are heavy, difficult to handle, difficult to store and susceptible to damage. In addition, the risk of personal injury from falling lattices is present at all times. Thanks to the new Kögel FastFix textile lattice, all these problems are a thing of the past. With a weight of just 495 gram and the proven toggle fastener, the Kögel FastFix textile lattice is very quick and easy to attach and detach from the stakes. The Kögel FastFix textile lattice is made of flexible belt material, which means it fits into any toolbox, significantly reducing the risk of damage.

This exhibit also shows the trademark variable body from the Kögel FlexiUse. The FlexiUse body includes eight front settings, each adjustable by 25 mm, and four rear settings, each adjustable by 50 mm, so the body heights can be independently adjusted by 200 mm at the front and rear. This allows everyday goods transport with a clear internal height of 2,700–2,900 mm at the front and rear. The Strong & Go body option can also be seen on the Kögel Cargo. This combines the innovative FlexiUse body of the NOVUM generation with a Kögel integral roof tarpaulin reinforced with stiffening belts. Thanks to this cost-effective solution, lattices are no longer required to comply with EN 12642 Code XL and Daimler Guideline 9.5 for the transport of pallet cages and strapped loads. For a certified beverage transport, only one row of lattices is required for single-level and double-level beverage crates on standard pallets with the Strong & Go body, instead of three or four rows with the normal body.

Customised exhibit equipment

The Kögel Cargo can be fitted with heavy-duty RoRo equipment for unaccompanied ship and ferry transport. This includes a diagonal reinforcement between the side members and external frame, a 10 mm closed sliding plate, a 10 mm fifth-wheel plate, two suction valves and four pairs of heavy-duty lashing rings with 12,000 kg of test force. To improve road safety and prevent turning accidents, this trailer is equipped with optional flashing side marker lights. The Kögel Cargo is fitted with the new Kögel EasyFix Stopper for quick and easy securing of the sliding roof when open. The Kögel EasyFix Stopper not only holds the sliding roof securely in position, but also allows you to close it easily after completing the loading process, without having to unlock it again. This system increases efficiency and safety during loading and unloading. Further individual features include a 12 mm thick and 1,250 mm high textured coated board on the front wall, a rear portal with steel posts, reinforced steel rubber bumpers, an 8 mm thick transverse steel angle over the entire width mounted in the middle of the frame end plate, locking cam protection, three large tool boxes, an axle lift, Kögel LUXIMA multi-chamber locking lights and much more.

Wide range of variants and customised equipment

The NOVUM generation Kögel Cargo is available in other variants and of course with a wide range of customised equipment. These include, for example, various load-securing packages, RoRo equipment, drop sides, TIR equipment, rail design, coil trough, a reinforced frame neck and much more.

Cathodic dip-paint coating: lasting protection from corrosion

In the Kögel Cargo, the entire vehicle frame is given long-lasting protection from corrosion by nano ceramic and cathodic dip-paint coating, supplemented with UV painting.
